Due to the current pandemic and according to government guidance, we are currently only allowing one adult in the shop at a time. The space is just too small to safely allow more. If you do need to bring your children with you, please keep them with you at all times, don’t let them move around the shop without you.
If you arrive at the shop and someone is already there, you will be asked to wait in your car, if you have driven. If you have come on foot, you will need to wait on the bench outside, if the weather is fine, or on a sofa at the far end of the shop if the weather is miserable.
Ideally, we need people to be in and out as quickly as possible, to keep the risk to us all low. We won’t be able to spend extended periods of time helping people plan complex quilts in the same way as we have done in the past. If you need us to calculate how much fabric you need, particularly for a quilt, it would be really helpful if you could let us have the measurements before you visit, so we can work this out for you.
If you already know what you want, you are welcome to let us know in advance, so that we can get it cut for you, ready for collection. This will mean you won’t need to queue to get into the shop, if you only need a couple of things.
On arrival, you will be asked to sanitise your hands. We would ask that you maintain a distance of two metres from staff at all times. Once you have selected your fabric, you will be asked to wait on the sofa while it is cut for you. Your purchase will be put in a bag, so you can just pick it up as you leave.
If you have symptoms consistent with coronavirus, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, please do not visit. A lot of our customers are vulnerable, and we cannot risk it being passed to them.
At this time, we don’t have a cash float in the till, so are unable to give change. Our preference is for all payments to be made by credit or debit card. If you wish to pay by cash, you will need to pay the exact amount (or your change can be donated to our charity crafting fund).
We are also suspending the loyalty card scheme until further notice, so you won’t get stamps for purchases and we are unable to accept completed cards.
We would prefer not to accept gift vouchers at the present time, for the same reason as we would prefer not to handle cash. In the short term, if you have a gift voucher with an expiry date between the last week of March and the end of June, we will extend it until the end of September, to give you time to use it. If you do want to use your gift voucher, it won’t be declined.
Alternative ways of shopping:
We have offered free UK P & P while the shop has been closed. Unfortunately, this isn’t sustainable in the long term, so we will be resuming our flat rate charge of £1.99 per order. We are still happy to deliver locally free of charge.
A majority of stock can be found on the ebay page. If there is anything you would like to buy, please let us know, and we can send you an invoice.
Please note, not all of our stock can be found online, including spots and plains and haberdashery. If there is anything you need and you can’t see it, get in touch and we will see what we can do to help.
Once you know what you would like to buy, please let us know, and we can arrange for payment and delivery / collection.
Workshops and Social Sessions
Please see the Workshop tab for details of specific classes.
Classes are now being offered on a very limited basis, with two metre social distancing applied, and with windows open to allow air to circulate. For that reason, we are not mandating masks for classes, although you are welcome to wear one if you would prefer to.
All work stations are being thoroughly cleaned between sessions.
Where we would normally provide all of the equipment you need, including sewing machines, this is not currently possible. You will be sent out a list of the required equipment prior to your class. If you have any queries about this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
